Calexico Youth Wellness Clinic Fitness Equipment

Safe for Kids – The Calexico Youth Wellness Clinic Fitness and Nutrition program is medically recognized as an effective health program for kids and adolescent and is supported by a staff Medical Advisor and Director of Nutrition.

Research over the past 10 to 15 years has shown that with proper adult supervision, strength training is a safe and effective method of conditioning for children (sources: Center for Disease Control, American Pediatrics Association).

Calexico Youth Wellness Clinic Lifestyle Fitness Center provide specially designed fitness equipment and program that is safe for kids and adolescent bodies. Each piece allows for multi-joint, closed kinetic chain movements.

Research shows that these types of movements reduce the likelihood of damage to developing bone growth plates. The movements also maximize compression forces that increase bone density in adolescents and pre-adolescents.

When combined with our low-weight, high repetition resistance program it  allows growing kids and adolescent to safely build lean muscle mass and reduces the risk of injury.

Need more proof on why kids and adolescents need to exercise…

How much exercise a day do children need?

Guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services say that children and adolescents age 6 and older need at least an hour a day of physical activity. Most of the hour should be either moderate or vigorous aerobic activity. In addition, children should participate in muscle-strengthening and bone-strengthening activities at least three days a week.

Many classic activities — such as playing on playground equipment and jumping rope — cover all the bases at once. Organized sports are a great way to stay fit too. But team sports or dance classes aren’t the only options.
